Jenkins has hinted that the upcoming film will be so unique that it won’t feel like a sequel. Jenkins stated in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that they are making a completely different movie with a similar feel to the first one. The new adventure they are taking on together is entirely new and separate from the previous one. In the first film, Gadot played the lead role of Wonder Woman during World War I while fighting alongside Chris Pine’s character, Steve Trevor.

In 1941, American psychologist William Moulton Marston and artist Harry G. Perry teamed up to create the iconic Wonder Woman character who first appeared in comic book pages. While director Jenkins is excited to showcase Wonder Woman to a new audience, she has expressed interest in involving TV star Lynda Carter in the sequel. Carter played Wonder Woman on TV from 1975 to 1979 and is a dear friend and mentor to the “Wonder Woman” family. Unfortunately, scheduling conflicts prevented her from appearing in the first film, but Jenkins hasn’t given up hope yet and is still trying to make it happen. Other notable attendees at the festival included Jenkins, Jordan Peele, and Daniel Kaluuya.
